Water Quality Testing Kit for Nitrates
WaterWorks Nitrate / water quality test kit is perfect for checking for
nitrates in water.
The EPA primary drinking water standard is 1 mg/l, the EU threshold
value is 50 mg/l.
Nitrates are a naturally occurring by-product of decaying animal and
plant matter and therefore may be present in water samples.
Due to their extensive use in farming and agricultural practice they are
found in fertilisers and industrial effluents that can transfer nitrates
from soil to water.
Farmers and gardeners can use these strips to measure the nitrogen
content of soil prior to applying additional fertilisers.
Nitrates can also be present in food due to their use in fertilisers, it
is therefore important to test food samples regularly for nitrate levels.
It is also formed as a by-product of cooling lubricants that can find
their way in to water which in turn can form carcinogenic compounds.
Nitrates in drinking water can cause infant mortality and also kill fish
hence their use in ponds and aquariums.
Suitable for testing at home or in the environment, easy to use with
rapid, reliable and accurate results.
Instructions for Water Nitrate Test
The test strips are easy to use and offer easy to read results in
Two versions are available depending on your detection needs:
The first solution reports results and Nitrogen (N).
The second solution, especially applicable for European markets, reports
results as Nitrate or Nitrite (NO3 or NO2, respectively).
Simply dip the test strip into your water sample for 2 seconds, remove,
wait 1 minute for the colours to develop, and match to the closest
The results are useful to determine nitrate levels in tap water, well
water, pool water and river water giving you a rapid indication of the
presence of nitrates in a water sample.
Accurate and easy to read.
NO3: 0, 0.5, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 ppm (mg/L)
NO2: 0.15, 0.3, 1, 1.5, 3, 10 ppm (mg/L)
